A LICENSE PASSED FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION

1800s

We were Windsor's taxis.
Before the motorcar.

1900s

Every generation chose to adapt.
The trade endured.

The Tradition Continues Today

The welfare of our horses comes before volume.

Rather than completing journey after journey, they become an important chapter of one thoughtfully hosted visit or event each day, allowing guests time to meet them, understand their role and experience their tradition at a gentler pace.

Our Stories

Growing up within Windsor's traditions gave us something no archive ever could. Generations of stories, customs and memories, shared through life on the Royal Estate and passed from one family to the next. Today, they become part of the memories our guests take home.

Our Welcome

_DSC6602.JPEG

Once, passengers hailed us from Windsor's taxi rank. Today, we work alongside the very invention that replaced us. Private chauffeurs bring guests to the carriage, allowing the tradition to continue in a way that is thoughtful for our horses, our guests and modern Windsor.

How the Tradition Continues

We no longer measure our work by journeys completed.

We measure it by the traditions we share and the memories our guests take home.

The carriage is no longer the destination.

It is the key that unlocks a very different way of experiencing Windsor.

How We Welcome Guests Today

Every visit begins with a conversation.

No fixed routes.

No standard itineraries.

No horses waiting in town. Their days are carefully planned rather than spent waiting for passing trade.

Just thoughtfully hosted visits, individually designed around the guests joining us.

How We Share Our Traditions

Every hosted visit is different. These are just some of the ways guests experience Britain's last surviving licensed horse-drawn Hackney Carriage trade today.

Bring Horses & Carriages To Britain?

For generations, Windsor Carriages has supported visiting horses, coachmen and carriage owners attending Royal Ascot, Royal Windsor Horse Show and private estate visits.

Drawing on generations of operational knowledge and longstanding relationships, we assist with everything from planning and permissions to estate drives, horse travel,

stabling, to horse, carriage and coachman hire.

Pictured are Windsor Coachman John Seear with the late Philip B. Hoffman, one of America's leading carriage drivers and an early pioneer of FEI Driving, during his visit to England. For generations, Windsor has welcomed carriage owners, coachmen and driving enthusiasts from around the world.

Meet Rebecca | Your Windsor Host

Windsor has shaped my life since childhood.

I grew up surrounded by its traditions and landscapes, learning early that places become memorable not because of what people see, but because of how they are made to feel.

Today I guide and curate private experiences for guests wishing to experience Windsor with greater depth, ease and understanding.

Every visit begins with a conversation and is shaped personally around those joining us.

Absolutely everything was perfect and beyond my expectations.

It was relaxing, informative and magical."
