Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides At Windsor Castle

"The highlight of our trip to Windsor."

Step Into History

The UK's Oldest Licensed Carriage Ride Experience

 ‘Birthday treat in Windsor’

‘We thoroughly enjoyed our carriage ride on The Long Walk. Rebecca and John gave as a warm welcome, were very knowledgeable, friendly and were patient with the girls as they had lots of questions! We were able to stop for photos and to learn about the tack used for carriage driving. My daughter has hardly stopped talking about her special carriage ride since we got back. We highly recommend Windsor Carriages.’  TripAdvisor Review

Step Back in Time with Our Exclusive Heritage Rides Take a horse-drawn carriage ride along The Long Walk at Windsor Castle and experience the charm of Victorian tradition. Perfect for families, history lovers, and international visitors, this 30-minute ride offers amazing views of Windsor Castle and brings 170 years of history to life.

While our primary focus is on bespoke events and day visits—where a carriage ride is part of a carefully curated experience—we continue to offer 30-minute rides on the first weekend of each month. These rides are perfect for special celebrations when you’ve planned your own special day or an introduction to the charm of a horse-drawn carriage ride, and experience a glimpse of our longer tours within the Windsor estate.

Scheduled rides operate on the first weekend of each month for consistency, where possible, 10.00 to 12.00.

March 15th, April 6, May 4, June 1, July 6

A highlight for any Windsor trip, especially with kids

‘Had a terrific time. Two adults and a toddler, and all of us enjoyed the tour very much. The folks driving the carriage were extremely friendly and helpful, and gave some great history notes. We got good photos and our daughter even got to pet the horse. It was one of the highlights of our Windsor visit. Absolutely recommend it.’

A Postcard From The Past

A Totally Unique Experience: Our access to the iconic Long Walk is a privilege rooted in our Victorian-era licensing, a unique privilege modern motor vehicles do not share. As the UK’s last remaining carriage licensee consistently operating since the Victorian period, we are humbled to continue this rare tradition, ensuring it continues in a modern world.

Have A Question?

We are delighted to answer your most pressing questions about our experiences. Such as 'How far in advance should I book?' We recommend booking at least a few months in advance, especially during peak tourist season (summer months and holidays).

Inspiring the Next Generation

Your ticket helps fund our rides for charity organisations and our Schools Programme, bringing the magic of carriage driving to classrooms and beyond. We create a driving arena in schools where children learn to “drive” their imaginary horses and classmates, sparking creativity and teamwork. We also invite children to The Long Walk to experience a real carriage ride, inspiring the next generation and spreading joy while preserving this cherished tradition.
