Meet Windsor Joey
Windsor's Most Charming Carriage Horse and Netflix Star
Meet Joey, our magnificent English Cob who leads our iconic heritage rides. While we work with many wonderful horses across our services, Joey has become a Windsor fan favourite, delighting both tourists and locals as he proudly carries forward our traditional scheduled carriage rides on The Long Walk. His gentle nature and regal bearing make him as comfortable on Windsor's historic routes as he is in front of admiring cameras.
From Windsor's Paths to Netflix Stardom
You might recognize Joey from his recent starring role in Netflix's "The Gentleman," but to us, he's always been a star. As our trusted carriage horse, Joey brings a special magic to every journey through Windsor Great Park. His powerful yet graceful presence perfectly embodies the dignity of traditional carriage driving, while his friendly personality charms guests from around the world.
As an English Cob, Joey comes from a breed renowned for their strength, intelligence, and steady temperament - qualities essential for the finest carriage horses. His broad chest, strong legs, and magnificent bearing make him perfectly suited for drawing carriages through Windsor's historic landscapes. Yet it's his character that truly sets him apart - a perfect blend of gentle giant and consummate professional.
Part of The Family | More Than A Carriage Horse
Joey represents the heart of what we do at Windsor Carriages, he's a cherished member of the Edwards Family. Having been raised and loved by them since he was just 2 years old, Joey's story is deeply intertwined with family life. His welfare isn't just paramount - it's personal. Between delighting visitors with carriage rides through Windsor's royal landscape, Joey can be found competing and showing with the Edwards Family, adding ribbons to his growing collection of achievements.
When not in his professional role, Joey enjoys the peaceful life of a pampered horse, grazing in lush paddocks and taking The Coachman's Daughters for a spin. These precious moments see him helping the next generation develop their passion for carriage driving, passing down this skillful art from father to daughters. It's a heartwarming sight to see this gentle giant patiently teaching the girls the same historic craft their father has mastered.
Want to see more of Joey's life behind the scenes? Follow The Coachman's Daughters on Instagram for a glimpse into Joey's home life, show appearances, and those special moments that make him such a beloved part of the family. Their journey together shows that Joey is far more than a carriage horse - he's a teacher, a competitor, and most importantly, family.
Joey's Windsor
Through Joey's eyes, guests experience Windsor in a uniquely authentic way. Whether clip-clopping past herds of red deer in the Great Park, pausing for photographs against the backdrop of Windsor Castle, or drawing admiring glances in town, Joey helps create those magical moments that turn a simple carriage ride into an unforgettable experience.
Recent guests shared: "Trotting along through the Great Park, into the mist, with the beautiful rhythm of Joey's hooves in the very comfortable, well sprung carriage, made us feel like Royalty for the day!"
Your Next Adventure Awaits
Like his stable mate Bell, Joey loves to delight guests in groups from 1 to 4 persons, bringing his special charm to intimate family gatherings and romantic couples' rides alike. For larger groups, we thoughtfully use the bigger boys in pairs to share the load, ensuring their welfare while maintaining the magic of your carriage experience. It's just one more way we ensure both our horses and our guests enjoy their journey through Windsor's royal landscape.
Come meet Joey and discover why he's not just our trusted carriage horse, but a beloved Windsor personality who brings a touch of magic to every journey through our historic royal town.
