The Long Walk
At the heart of Windsor Great Park lies the iconic Long Walk, a regal avenue stretching over two miles from the grandeur of Windsor Castle to the magnificent Copper Horse statue of King George III. Originally planted by Charles II, this historic pathway was designed to create a striking connection between the castle and the surrounding natural beauty of the park.
Framed by an exquisite canopy of trees, the Long Walk offers breathtaking views that change with the seasons. Our carriages have exclusive access to this privileged location, allowing you to experience its timeless charm just as generations of royalty have before.
The Deer Park
The Deer Park, a captivating feature of Windsor Great Park, offers a glimpse into its rich natural and royal heritage. Opened by His Royal Highness The Late Duke of Edinburgh over 70 years ago, this serene expanse is home to approximately 500 red deer, descendants of the original herd introduced in 1979.
Exploring the Deer Park provides a rare opportunity to observe these majestic creatures roaming freely within their natural habitat. A gentle carriage ride through this remarkable setting allows you to fully appreciate the tranquility and beauty of the estate, where the history of Windsor intertwines with its abundant wildlife.
Royal Heritage
Windsor Great Park is a living testament to centuries of royal influence, with each monarch leaving their mark on this historic estate. Among the park’s most notable features is the first statue of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on horseback, a tribute to her enduring connection to Windsor.
The park is also home to the iconic Copper Horse, a striking statue of King George III, standing proudly at the end of the Long Walk. Other monuments, such as the Prince Albert Statue and the Obelisk, offer glimpses into the estate’s storied past.
These statues and monuments, reachable by a gentle carriage ride, echo the journeys of royal monarchs who once traveled through the Windsor estate while visiting, working, and entertaining.
Royal Residences
Windsor Great Park is steeped in royal history, featuring significant buildings that have served as homes to Dukes, Duchesses, and even Kings and Queens. Cumberland Lodge, built in the mid-17th century, stands out as a stately residence with a rich past, now home to an educational foundation dedicated to social and ethical discussions.
Throughout the park, charming gatehouses and lodges tell their own stories, historically housing estate workers or serving as hunting retreats for royalty. The Royal Kennels, once home to the monarchy’s prized hunting hounds, add a unique layer to the estate’s heritage.
The Savill Gardens
Windsor Great Park is home to The Savill Garden, a treasured attraction that has been enchanting visitors for over 50 years. This 35-acre horticultural haven, originally commissioned by King George V, is a masterpiece of landscaped beauty, blending gardens, woodland, and stunning seasonal displays.
Nature lovers, photographers, families, and friends alike are drawn to its serene paths and vibrant planting. Children will especially love the new adventure play village, making The Savill Garden a destination for all ages.
